Summer School Renzo Imbeni

In 2008 The City of Modena established the Summer School Renzo Imbeni to honor the memory of 'On. Renzo Imbeni, Vice-President of the European Parliament from 1994 to 2004, born in Modena. The course offers the opportunity to young graduates to study in depth the European Union and better understand its democratic consolidation process.

Through several involvements aim to provide an overview on the current state of integration progress in different sectors in which the EU operates, analysing both political and legal-institutional aspects. The School gives to participants the opportunity to meet academic figure of high-level, in addiction to important political and institutional representatives.

The course is developed in collaboration with the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia and the Fondazione Collegio San Carlo di Modena, involving the Centre for Documentation and Research of the European Union, the Information Center Europe Direct, the Department of Economics "Marco Biagi" , the Department of Law and the Department of Linguistic Studies of the University, but also the Italian Council of the European Movement.

At the end of the course two grants for a traineeship in Brussel at the European Parliament will be offered. Each of the two will be assigned after a test that will take place during the course.
It is possible to participate to the course through a public announcement of selection and the assessment of the applicants' course of studies.

A Scientific Committee, intended to guide and be responsible for the educational activities of the course, is composed by several persons on behalf of partner institutions of the project and Imbeni family. It is assisted by a Didactic Committee, which is in charge of organizing, proposing e developing the educational activity.

The Summer School Renzo Imbeni is supported by the High Patronage of the President of the Italian Republic, the Patronage of the European Parliament, the EU Committee of the Regions, the Representation in Italy of the European Commission, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Emilia-Romagna Region and the contribution of the Foundation Cassa di Risparmio di Modena.
